What is included?
The module can be taught as a complete scheme of work, although each lesson can also stand alone in its own right. Each of the ten lessons comes with clear lesson objectives/learning outcomes, starter and plenary activities and 3 sequenced lesson activities. These lesson activities are varied and are designed to engage, challenge and provoke discussion of this very sensitive issue.
Each lesson contains at least one homework task. There are differentiated activities for special needs and more able pupils. Some of the featured lesson activities include a jigsaw cooperative group work activity, a slavery debate, simulation and role play activities on slave ship conditions, the Trade Triangle and slave auctions. Also included are extended writing tasks on the Middle Passage and the abolition of slavery. Mark schemes, writing frames and peer assessment sample answers are provided. There is an end of unit test and pupil self evaluation and target setting form.
This resource contains 109 pages.

“Having bought the Key Stage 3 Interactive Slavery Unit, I have been extremely pleased. It has bolted on to my current scheme of work. The assessment at the end is excellent with the PowerPoint with additional resources available to extend learning.”
Gareth Whitaker, Head of History, Settle Middle School, North Yorks.
“The History Interactive DVD’s we purchased were excellent. We ordered several Key Stage 3 modules including the Causes of the First World War and the Assessment for Learning King John and Richard III Pack. This included a fully resourced debate and assessments. They provided complete content coverage with elements of differentiation. All highly useable.”
Mrs S Young, Highbury Fields School, London.
